Within 7 yards, then absolutely you should be practicing point shooting!

I keep hearing over and over that the p3at is only a last resort, "bad breath", no more options weapon.  Maybe someone can help me but I personally carry the p3at as a lone firearm sometimes.  In that case, if the SHTF, it isn't my last resort but my first.  I want to be prepared for ANY distance I may be required to utilize my firearm, (considering of course that the threat warrants the use) so I practice at all distances.  If a sight helps and isn't too much of a hindrance (i.e. "snagging") then I welcome it. No matter how "sightly."

You must be realistic about your choices. The odds are that you will not be
involved in any shooting. Next, if you are involved it will occur at a short distance, usually less than 12 feet. Of course if you're the 'da man' things do change. If I'm working a security detail the P3 becomes a BUG. If its out to dinner with the family it's the only weapon. The only improvement I would suggest is a laser. I chose the CT but the Arma is good also.
Rule #1 Shot palcement is king. Rule #2 see one.
I do "look" for cover. I always ask myself what can I use for protection/deception. If you can wait for help without getting killed while keeping a threat bottled up that's a good thing.

New guy here.  I've carried my P3AT for over a year now.  It's normally my second gun but many times, depending on type of dress, it's my primary gun.  I'm hoping to pick up a PF9 this week and maybe give the little .380 a rest.

i think you got a helluva deal, that's pre-BO pricing there, especially w/ the extra MAG and ammo...  don't know that i'd carry IWB with a gun this small, but YMMV.  either way, enjoy *)

My $4 a day outdoor range is 10 yds so I practice there. I have a feeling any need of this gun for sd is much closer to 4 or 5 yds. No sight is needed.

Very nice!  I'll have to remember that...

We just got a Gander Mountain here last year, but I try to stay out of it because of the astronomical prices.

Like I tell my wife: "They call it 'Gander Mountain' because that's all I can afford to do in there."

Point shooting is the way to go with the P-3AT. At close range one doesn't need to aim.

Not aiming at close range wastes the .380, IMO. The heart is my point of aim in all I do. With practice even the front sight of the P3AT can be the focus in SD situations. No one can continue to be a threat with a hole in the heart or a missing Aorta.
