New Blue Force sight, got mine!

Got my new sight today. Looks nice! All flat black not silver like the photo. Allen screws on the bottom hold it in place.  When I ordered it the price was $89 and that was what I was charged. Got my new dremel out and cut off the sight and put the new one on. There is a slot on the bottom that lines up with the slot on the bottom of the handguard for the rail. Which makes things simple to line up. I kept my laser on the rifle to help line it up and when I switched it on the sight had the laser beam split when I looked at it on the wall. This defies all my known experience with mechanical things that it could be that easy. I will know for sure when I get to the range. When tightening the allen screws on the bottom it is awfully easy to turn the sight as well and lose alignment. Just catches you by surprise the first time more than being difficult.

I took these with my web camera off my Macbook Pro. I lighted them as best I could. Laser/light on the rail.

I was happy when I folded it and it actually worked.

You can see the cut out that the latch detent slides into and locks it folded.

The picatiny rail looks pretty good on it. You can also see the three allen screws that hold it on.

Looks nice JB.  Am betting you try moving that light/laser up to the sight's rail?!?!

I'm planning to but I'm going to wait until I get to a range. Right now that laser is the only zeroed sight on the rifle so I'm not going to mess with it. Might as well free up a rail and where it is now means you can't use the one on the rail.

On the installation: Cutting the original sight off is the hardest part. Once that is off it could not be easier to do. They send a one page set of instructions front and back. Very clear photos one what to do, lining the slot on the bottom of the sight with the hand guard slot for the rail. Once the original sight is off its no harder than putting a clamp on a hose.

I took it out and zeroed it today. That was not as easy as I hoped. At installation it turns out I was pretty close left right. Less than an inch right and low. I wasn't sweating the high low because I could dial that in pretty easy. The trouble was as soon as I undid the allen screws it slipped and I lost the whole thing. I should have put some index marks on it or something. They would have helped. I kept loosing my place adjusting the screws, finally I used the laser dot at range and registered the sights off of that, tightening while looking through the sight. Then dialed the height in with no problem. Long frustrating process that could have been made easier with a little forethought on my part.

I do much prefer the new sight. My last group of five I could cover with a nickel. Yes, I pulled out a nickel and it covered. Just at the edge of the nickel sized bullseye a tad low and right at 25 yards. That is very very good shooting for me. A big improvement on anything I've shot with iron sights in years. It would be one of the better groups I've shot with my laser sight.

That looks very nice. Thanks for the pictures and description of the process, and the range report. Good shooting, for sure!
