The True Meaning of the 2nd Amendment
04/12/09 at 02:19:47

One of the truest and most inspiring five minute stories about the 2nd Amendment from 1994.

VERY relevant to our current situation.  A must-watch if you believe in the right to bear arms:

That video has been around for some time and every time I see it I get goosebumps. Talk about passion.

She's no longer a member of the house (darnit) but is credited with this quote:

Quote:
"How a politician stands on the Second Amendment tells you how he or she views you as an individual... as a trustworthy and productive citizen, or as part of an unruly crowd that needs to be lorded over, controlled, supervised, and taken care of."

Now that is a great quote.

Wow! That's a great statement she made.  Her closing is one of the boldest, and most truthful, things I've ever heard in a statement given in one of those hearings (perhaps with Ollie North's testimony being an equal).

I got really torqued up watching that smirk or grin on Chuck Schumers face. It pushed my blood pressure up, dangerously high.  That man always disgusts me.  I would have liked to seen his face when she made the final statement about the 2nd Amendment protecting all of us from people like those on the committee.

I guess TX has a concealed carry permit law now - I hope.

Yes.  She later became a state representative and helped Texas become a CHL state.  She's a true hero.

Great to hear that about TX.  Seems like I heard something on the news about the governor wanting to eliminate all the various places the CWP wasn't valid, like gov't buildings, etc.  Did he succeed with that?  I thought maybe that was all part of the initial law going through the state house.

Excuse me, is that grocery bag organic whole wheat shade-tree-harvested fair-trade micro-economy sustainable permaculture certified recycled carbon-neutral unbleached hemp fiber, purchased from differently-abled native North Americans?

Founding fathers put it in there for a reason, its the one amendment that protects the others.

Isn't it interesting that the one amendment that ends "...shall not be infringed" is the most infringed upon amendments in the Bill of Rights?

To me, the statement "...shall not be infringed" is something else that makes it very clear that the 2nd Amendment is intended to provide the right to keep and bear arms to the PEOPLE.  If it was something reserved for the government, "shall not be infringed" wouldn't be needed, would it?

I will risk being deleted to go even further in defining the second  to say that it was written in the shadow of the revolution that the people have the right and responsibility to defend themselves against a tyrannical government much as free speech protects your right  to speech against the government. The whole thing was written to protect you from your own government and not to allow you to hunt or allow you to defend yourself from madmen or robbers.
These framers were afraid of their own government.
I AM NOT ADVOCATING AN OVERTHROW OF THE GOVERNMENT. JUST TRYING TO GIVE CLARITY .
However I will say at best the police can at best only solve your murder and not prevent it.That is up to you.Unless you are a politician or celebrity you will not have 24 hour protection .It is up to you.
Most people do do not want to say this fact for fear of being labeled a nut or even worse but  I am and will.
