I'm not quite sure what that means but the P3AT has
always used a metal guide rod. Since you bought it used with the wrong guide rod in it, all bets are off on that gun.

Please. You know exactly what that means. Kel Tec makes so many changes to their guns after being released to the public, with little or no notice to the shooting community, that it is impossible for the average buyer to know whether the gun he is buying is up to date with all the revisions. That's what anyone would call a "work in progress".
Example: How many revisions have there been to the PF-9, since it was introduced and sold to the public? Numerous. A whole topic thread devoted to it here. Yet the gun, although initially flawed, was never recalled nor any customers notified. Kel-Tec just made constant engineering changes to the production line, and repairs when a customer returned the gun with a complaint. I sent one of mine back twice, and on the last return it came back with the brand new frame of a new design to retain the ejector pin. I think I was the first one here to post pics of it. I'm satisfied they have it debugged now, and I carry mine with confidence, but how long did that take? And if you are not a KTOGer, how would you know if you had the current model?
The RFB, another example of a gun released before it was ready for prime time. I shot one of the first production models and passed on buying one because I saw things I didn't like.
Not bashing here, just not drinking Kool-Aid. I like my Kel-Tecs (have 6 of them and carry them), but the customer ends up being the final beta tester in many cases.
In this case, apparently Kel-Tec decided the problem with my "used gun" was something other than a polymer guide rod; since in addition they replaced the barrel, the slide, some unspecified internal parts, the recoil springs, and the mag catch.
I finally got around to shooting it yesterday. Worked perfectly with an assortment of Federal FMJ, Winchester Silvertip, Federal JHP and Speer Gold Dot. Even that funky-designed +1 magazine worked without a hitch. Shoots more accurately now than it previously did. Didn't fluff and buff anything, and probably won't. Service took awhile longer than in the past, but Kel-Tec fixed it up very nicely. Loaded it up, and back in the pocket. Another satisifed customer.
