How about Marvel Mystery Oil?

what about lucas oil stabilizer!?!?!? Shocked

Lucas actually makes a gun oil, I found some at Autozone. Didn't buy any, but I wonder if it's the same as their other products.

Gun control is like trying to limit drunk driving by making it harder for sober people to buy cars.

I'm still using Hoppes and CLP for the lighter stuff but use Wilson gun grease for the larger parts of smaller guns (rails of a P22) and (believe it or not) BMW red grease for the larger parts of larger things... slide/rails on Beretta, Ruger and Taurus.

I've actually found that BF CLP, dried and then wiped off, works best for my Sub2k.  Very slick where it grated before.

Not sure on the new SU16c yet.

Not sure whether I have too many or not quite enough.

I have a little bottle with some Mobil-1 15w-50 oil (I use it in my sportbike). It works great on the rails of my 1911, and on my AR-15.  It's a little thicker than your standard gun oil...but it seems to last longer, and not try out as fast.  I have been using it for a while, and so far it seems to be working great.

I have used STP Oil Treatment as a substitue for grease on the slide rails and hammer interface with good results.  It is very slick, but does not thin out or wear away while shooting.  It takes only a very thin coating to get the lubrication desired, and as long as you use it sparingly, it doesn't pick up any more debris than grease or oil would.

It is my understanding, maybe I'm wrong, but synthetic motor oil does not protect the finish from corrosion well.  It might not be the best idea for long-term storage.   Then again, if it stays in place longer than clp then maybe it is better...

I woud definitely not use any kind of automatic transmission fluid as they usually contain detergents of some sort.  Might not be the best friend to your firearm's finish.

We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force.

I am amazed this topic is still going strong! I used the formula that was provided by CJ : 2 parts 15/50 Mobil 1 and 1 part Mobil 1 transmission fluid. I use it on all my weapons now and had smother operations on them. I also use the M1 grease when I need a point that needs it.  See Cj's post on this thread.  Cheesy As far as protection on the outside parts the synthetic will cling better to metal and stay longer.

so far the mobil has done an ok job at long term...my conceal p3at is starting to lose blue from carry with no rust yet. theres usually a lil film on there. i use grease on the rails and barrel contact, but oil on other stuff. i like mobil on bolt guns, as it stays put in the receiver and makes the bolt work very nicely

For rust prevention the best idea I've ever used is Johnson's Floor wax, it sounds a little strange, but look at post #19 in this thread. (RC's post)

In the past year or so I've applied it once or twice on my daily carry guns, PF9 and P3AT, without the slightest hint of rust. I carry every day and have a bad habit of leaving the P3 in a leather wallet holster all the time. Also it doesn't attract dust or lint at all.

Glad I could help Uniongap.  Smiley
