Magazine Enigma Mec-Gar

Here is the deal, I got two brand new Mec-Gar magazines(in a trade) (supposedly for a Taurus 92), they are not for a Taurus 92, or 24/7 or PT100.  They are marked Taurus by Mec-Gar.  The funny thing is they are identical in every way to the P11 10 rounders except they have a metal flush floorplate and the mag catch is just a hair too high.  Because the mag catch is too high, they don't fully insert, they miss by 1/4 inch but if you depress the mag catch button and push them flush, the fit is perfect and operates the BHO.  I have contacted Mec-Gar but their techs were out at a trade show today, they are supposed to call me back.  They don't even know what they are for.  I am hoping for a small fee they will send me P11 mag bodies, that would be ideal and I would have two flush fitting 10 round mags  Cool.  I was almost completely pumped when I initially looked at the mags to compare, then a click 1/4 inch shy of full insertion  Angry

This is funny, I called Mec-Gar again and they cannot identify the mags and said they were OEM mags from Taurus contracted to Mec-Gar, so I called Taurus and they cannot identify the mags as "most mags are 10 round blue steel" (BTW, Taurus CS people are window lickers), the funny thing is that these mags fit perfectly in my P11 but the mag catch slot is about 1/4 inch too high so they don't lock in high enough, if I depress the mag catch and fully insert them, they function in the P11.  I'd like to try to buy a mag body for a Mec-Gar P11 mag but I can't seem to get anywhere with anyone, if anyone has a source for mag parts (ie mag body for a Mec-Gar P11) PM me, thanks.  I may just keep them as the springs and followers can be spare parts for my P11 mags.

Get a friend with a TIG welder to fill in the slot and cut new ones. Problem solved

I have thought about that, it might work but I'm not sure, the slots are exactly off by the width of the slot, so if it was filled in the new slot would be directly below and terminate at the start of the filled weld.  I may give it a try, the only benefit is the follower and spring are identical to the P11 mag and the metal floorplate creates a flush mount mag on the P11, so I have some spare parts and can change the extension out for the flush follower if I want.  I may just offer up the mag bodies if someone wants to pay a couple of bucks for shipping.  If anyone is interested in the mag bodies for the price of shipping PM me.

they are likely PT111 megs.  Of you look at the Pierce pinkie extensions for the P-11 KelTec, they also fit the PT111 Taurus.  Must be same floorplate, same mag body floorplate lips and likely same magazine dimensions.
