hmm extrator looks pretty good.  Should the ejector be so very very stiff?  I think the stiff ejector is not alowing the round to set (just like you said).

I'd get some break free or whatever its called, and spray the extractor with it, and then clean it up and oil it with a high quality oil and see if it works. If not, quit messing with it and send it back to KT and let them fix it.

BIG QUESTION.  While at home are you pulling the bolt back and letting it fly foward to feed the round?  Or are you hand cycling it?  Hand cycling will not give the bolt enough energy to close completely on a lot of semi auto actions.  The SU bolt is a lot like an AR bolt in that when it goes forward that last little bit the locking lugs rotate into lockup.  That is what you are feeling when you push it that last bit.  If it's not locking closed then when you pull the trigger the rear of the bolt is blocking the hammer from reaching the firing pin because it's not safely locked.  I find this very unusual in a used gun.  I might understand in a new one that needs broken in, but not a used one.

Don't be nice to it.  Pull it back and let it fly forward.  Then see if it still needs that final push to seat.  If so there is something obstructing the bolt from seating closed.

Well your analysis of me is dead on.  I lightly let the bolt go and didnt let it fly.  I was wondering if that was something I should have done now that Ive already used up my range money and time.  Nuts.  Maybe I can slide just on the skirts of town and let one fly and see if it works.  Hoping all the cops are busy.  The gun while from a pawn shop looks brand new.  No scratchs, scrapes, or wear that I see.

Yeah you definitely need to let the bolt carrier release on it's own.  Sorry to hear you wasted time/ammo loading it improperly.  Just pull back and let go, it's actually very satisfying feeling Cheesy

I was able to get the rifle to fire.  I put on some hearing protection and step in a shed and fire it into a barrel of sand.   It fired good.  I cant wait to try it truely.

So, what have we learned today?? ..............Before we condemn a weapon, first lets see where the problem lies and determine a course of action to correct the problem, second correct problem, third shoot the hell out of it!  Grin

3wdr is right on. I would of asked that too. But its okay. Dont worry about, your learning as you go along so this is one of the thing that many many MANY people do too so your not alone. Treat the gun like you stole it when putting a round in and your good to go.
