I agree entirely. The price difference between .22WMR and .22LR is nothing to sneeze at, so to me, it's not going to be a plinker. It is good to see Kel-Tec continue to innovate and bring new products to market, but what exactly is this pistol for? I don't mean to imply that it has no use. I'm honestly asking, what's it for? Hi vis, non-adjustable sights, a tactical rail... Home security, perhaps?
I think you said what I intended to say except more clearly. That is pretty much where I was going - I am not criticizing or nay-saying the pistol, I just really can't figure out what purpose it would have (for me.) I mean, I
really like the .22 Mag round but can't figure out what I would do with this platform. Maybe not 'plinking' but some longer-range target shooting than is possible with a comparable-sized .22LR pistol? It would seem, to me, that the barrel is too short to allow the .22Mag to develop a lot of its potential but the pistol is too large for caliber to be practical as a carry weapon.
Basically, I think the idea is exciting and I am looking for help justifying why I 'need' this pistol.
I could see it possibly having some use as an HD weapon for the recoil-intolerant. I guess part of my confusion is that a full-sized pistol with a safety is such a departure for KelTec (I know it is sort of a revival of an old Grendel design but nothing like KelTec is currently doing.) It seems like a bit of a gamble - but I do hope the gamble pays off. I wonder if this could lead to other forays into the full-sized pistol market by KelTec.
Now, if this were closer to the size of a PF9 (even if it held fewer rounds) I would be able to tell you exactly what it would be for - a pocket BUG for my weak-side. In fact, I will hope to see such a thing develop from this in the future.
