This is excellent!!  I want one, or maybe two!! Roll Eyes

Could it be made in a longer version to get closer to the sight rail?

Does it seem to interfere with dis-assembly, or do you just snap it off for that?

Put me on the certain list to buy!  Wink

TPH

I'm glad you like it. Right now I'm only making this one size which is about 7 5/8" long. I can only get so many out of a sheet with minimal waste and to make one larger means there would be one less I get out of a sheet.

When you want to disassemble your rifle it simply snaps off. When you're done cleaning just snap it back on. Very easy.

Thanks, I'll have to look at where my pad is now, you'rs may be perfect as is.

I suppose a foam pad could be affixed to the top of your's if padding or thickness is needed, too.

Another question;

How difficult would it be to make a variety of colors, i.e. black, OD, tan, etc?

Can this material be easily coated?

TPH

get to 25.

Right now I'm only offering it in black due to not being able to find other colors in the .125 thickness that it requires to make the rests. I'm still looking for a dealer that stocks other colors in 1/8" thick kydex.

I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem to paint it any color you would like though. I hear that krylon fusion works well on plastics and polymers.

Hopefully by the time you start selling I'll have an RFB to put one of these on.  Very nice work!

Are there any issues/options with cheek height? It might be nice to combine this new design with the raised cheek height of the old one, for sight alignment, etc.

I had about 10 different people using different prototypes and all of them liked the cheek rest better without the raised height. So I opted to leave it off.

As of right now there is no option to add one.

Nighthawk's KYDEX Cheek Rest...

I received Nighthawk's KYDEX cheekrest in Saturday's mail intact & looking good! The HD USPS box & wadded newspaper packing did the trick. He was wise to put one "lip" in the design; two would be completely unnecessary & a PITA to remove. The KYDEX thickness is perfect & the formed angle for a pinch effect works extremely well. The cuts, beveling, shape & size are right on the money. I'd be willing to bet that Kel-Tec CNC makes topcovers that are virtually identical regardless of vintage. The cheekrest WILL fit ALL RFB bullpups with ease & stay put. I'm sold on the KISS Principle... I LOVE simple. I hate to modify a weapon permanently & Nighthawk's design allows a professional appearance w/o drilling, cutting or otherwise modding the host firearm. Pushing the cheek rest down & snapping it in place took all of about 5 seconds without any drama for the intimidated DIY'r. There is absolutely NO movement; it's not going anywhere until you decide to snap it off. It's has a pretty aggressive hold & will not slide back & forth or up & down. It's a precision cut with nicely dressed edges.

Darn, if this thing doesn't look totally awesome. Kel-Tec shouda coulda woulda... but you know Kel-Tec & how they view accessory priorities. That's how an RFB "should" come from the factory. I would imagine that every owner of one of these innovative bullpups will want one. Smiley

I'll try to get some high resolution photos this coming week of my gun with it installed. Maybe, I'll put my Raptor NVD on for grins! I need sunlight for decent pics & it's been raining off & on. Bottom line: I HIGHLY recommend this product. I haven't had a chance to put it through the paces of live firing, but all indications are a total WIN! Kydex is an extremely rugged material & the thickness that was chosen for fabrication should take a ton of abuse without damage.

Very very nice new design.  I liked the old one but this one seems to match the asthetics of the weapon even better.  I want one.  Will be awhile though as I have very few posts and am mainly a lurker by nature.  *sigh*.

Nighthawk,   Congrads on a nice design.   What is the chance, since I have been asking from the beginning, of getting one of those to test???  Thanks for the consideration.......

Stymie,

Thanks for the nice review and I'm glad you like the cheek rest. I'm looking forward to seeing pics of your rifle. Just don't forget to throw on your suppressor, I love the way these things look suppressed.  Smiley
