Was at a gun show this weekend, looking around when I spotted what looked like a Chief's Special except it was an airweight version. Felt good in my hand, nice tight cylinder lock-up and I loved the smooth wood grips. Everything about it just felt right until I turned it over and saw 'Lady Smith'. What a dirty trick. Now I'm questioning everything. Wink

Ok maybe I could just get a 642 and put smooth wood grips on it. Or better yet I could get the Lady Smith for my girlfriend.

Seriously, though, I agree with RJ - if you like it then it is no one else's business what you carry. Heck, I carry a Rossi snub pretty often. Some folks wouldn't (or wouldn't admit it) - for different reasons than the Lady Smith - but I like the darned thing, it fits my hand well and I can shoot it so who cares? Besides, there are some cool one-liners that could come from carrying a Lady Smith...

1. Yeah, I've got a Lady that would kill for me.
2. Hey, my Lady has my back.
3. Behind every good man, there's a good Lady.
4. Yeah, don't you wish you were that secure in your manhood?
5. I like to keep my Lady close.
6. My Lady is always by my side.
7. I love my Lady - I squeeze her tight and she likes to go bang.

and so on.

I say get it but in my situation my gun buddies would never let it go that I got a "girly gun". It would be as bad if Colt put out a 1911 with pink grips and stamped "Pink Pony" or "My Little Pony" on the slide. It may be a nice gun and you can change out the grips but that name is there forever unless you get it removed or the gun re-coated.

My wife and I were looking at handguns at my favorite LGS, recently. Just on a lark, he showed her a pink Walther P22. She told him (as she has told me, before), "I'm just not a pink gun kind of gal," after which I said, "And I'm glad she isn't." The shop owner just grinned and said, "Hey, nobody wants to get shot with a pink gun."

I think he meant that getting shot with a pink gun is just as bad as getting shot with anything else. Thinking more about it, though, it might even be worse. Can you imagine being a thug and having everyone know your intended victim not only stopped you but did so with a pink pistol? Talk about never living something down - would sort of add insult to injury.

My wife has a LadySmith from way back when (when they cost about $200-$250 new). So it's pretty old. It is a fantastic revolver. I like shooting it. I thought the only difference between a LadySmith and a Chiefs Special was the nicer rosewood grips on the LadySmith. In our CCW class, one of the instructors (male) offered to buy it on the spot.

I'm really too broke to be in the market for anything right now Spyderhead, but it was really nice. JAB, I've got a Rossi too. Mine is an old (Interarms) .38 snub that I bought new in the late 80's. Awesome gun!! Good subject for another thread some time.
