Holster question
07/30/10 at 17:38:17

I am looking into getting a new IWB holster and have been looking at the crossbreed supertuck and MTAC.  I was wondering if anyone had experience with either one of these holsters?  If so can you please tell me the pro's and con's.

While similar, the MTAC and Crossbreed have some differences.  IMO ,the MTAC is much more nicely finished and unlike the CB, theMTAC is adjustable for cant AND can be used for other guns by interchanging kydex bodies so you don't have to buy another entire holster.

That said, IF the PF9 is the only weapon you plan to use it for, the smaller version of the CB (mini tuck?) might be an option IF you won't be wearing it crossdraw where the cant might make it less usable in that position.

Oh and just so you have the best info to make a decision, the CrossBreed Supertuck is adjustable for cant.  It works like the same as the MTAC, only the holes are in the leather and the clips are just moved to another hole to adjust the cant.

MPDC69 is correct about the advantage of being able to swap holsters while keeping the same backing with MTAC.  The disadvantage to this is the overall thickness of the rig...that's where CB and Lasco Leather has the advantage.

The PF-9 is my EDC and it's carried in a Crossbreed Minituck.  The two seem to be made for each other.  Whether I'm working, relaxing, riding my Harley or whatever, I rarely notice that it's there.  I would certainly recommend giving it some serious consideration before you make up your mind.

Thank you all for responding so quickly.  I think I have made up my mind on the holster from reading your replies and reading past posts.  I am going to go with the crossbreed mini tuck.  I will post again once it arrives and I get a chance to try it out.

Nah, forget searching.  Talking about guns and holsters is fun.  Ask away.

I have the less-expensive crossbreed called a Kholster.  A very good holster for the money.  I'm sure the Crossbreed is worth the extra it costs.

I like a lot of leather...ie I don't care for Crossbreeds newer cut that allows the grip of the gun to ride against your side.  I like more leather where the gun is not allowed to rub against me.  Just more comfortable.

The VM is cut away too.  So, it's kind of personal choice and comfort.  Smiley

Diamond,
I agree with you about the extra leather I currently have a cheap Vespa holster that realy dosent provide much comfort when carrying for extended periods of time. I am getting the holster with the non combat cut which does provide the leather peice covering the weapon. I really cant wait to try to the crossbreed out it looks really comfortable. I think that is the reason most of us went with the PF-9 in the first place is to have an easy to carry reliable weapon that can be carried all day long.  I will still have to wait 2 weeks for it to come in even though I am located only about 15 miles from where the holsters are made.  That is kinda a bummer but I think it will be well worth the wait.

Combat Cut!!! doah, I couldn't remember what to call it. lol Thank you.  Yes, I don't like that combat cut.  I've never had a problem getting at my gun with a fuller piece of leather behind it.

I grab the grip with trigger finger extended.  I then place my thumb on the rear site area and pull.  Out she comes ready to go.
