Take her to the range and rent both to let her see what she can handle. This should be up to her to decide but I think she should go with the 9mm if she can easily handle it.

Ken,
like waltherpfive said, let her decide.
When you do go to the range,

DON'T go loading the 9mm up with
plus P and plus P plus,

let her try it with standerd load 9mm.

I love my KelTec's, but don't rule out letting her try some revolvers also.

again, if she shoots a revolver, load it with
wadcutters or standerd loads, no plus p or
magnum rds.
It should be fun, not scare her off.
gooooood luck
I still can't get my better half to go to the
range with me.

My wife had a Kel-Tec P11 and didn't like it. She has long fingers and she couldn't get a good grip on the gun. Her fingers bunched up too much. With the sharp recoil that our P11s have, it wasn't very controllable for her. We ended up trading it for a Desert Eagle in 9mm and she positively loves it. It fits her hand superbly and the heavy weight (a lot!) greatly reduces recoil. Now, she's talking about wanting a Kimber .45, I think I've created a monster.

Speaking of monsters, have you ever heard of a Thunder Five? It's a 5-shot revolver chambered for the .410 shotgun shell and .45 Long Colt. It's supposed to have a recoil similar to a .38 special. At close range, like in a home, it could be ideal. You can get Winchester shells for it that have 3 pellets of 000 buck, or Remington (?) that has 5 pellets of 00 buck, which is about like getting hit with 3 or 5 bullets from a .38 special simultaneously. I'm saving my pennies for one right now.

Like Waltherpfive and Chopper said: Let her try them out and see which she likes.

If it's a house gun, as you said, I'd prefer the 9mm. The P32 conceals well, but if it's for the house, the ability to conceal it may not be a significant factor.

Above all, make sure you teach the safety aspects of gun handling FIRST. But then, you've probably already thought of that. SAFETY FIRST! There's lots of information here and at places like the NRA website. Good luck.

My wife had a problem firing a 9mm Glock - She kept limp-wristing it which caused constant jams (it was bad - one out of every clip jammed). I think the gun was just too big for her hand.

In contrast, she just fired about 50 rounds with my new P32 this weekend with no problems whatsoever.

She also fired a 9mm Kahr with no problems (maybe because it's slimmer and heavier than a Glock). She hasn't tried a P11 yet.
